Interviews Legal Recruiter Michael Lord

Michael Lord, principal of attorney placement firm Michael Lord & Company, was quoted in an article focusing on the hiring trends of white collar criminal attorneys in the October 27, 2003 edition of Crain’s New York Business. Lord, whose background includes seven years as an attorney, commented on the upswing in hiring in recent months, stemming in part from the lucrative nature of representing corporations and corporate executives in criminal matters. • The placement of an Assistant United States Attorney as a senior litigation associate at a 50-attorney New York City branch office.

• The placement of a mid-level associate working at small, New York corporate law firm to a Connecticut-based law firm with a sophisticated hedge fund practice
• The placement of a junior real estate attorney from a top 10 New York law firm to another large, New York-based law firm with a growing real estate finance practice
• The placement of an attorney specializing in securities arbitration matters and formerly at a large, Wall Street brokerage house to a 200-plus attorney New York law firm.

Events

Michael Lord & Company recently sponsored a team in the American Cancer Society’s second annual Hoops for Hope charity basketball tournament which raised $20,000 for the fight against cancer. The Lord team placed second in the Open Division, edging out Dechert, which finished third. Winners in the Recreational Division included Friedman, Kaplan, Seiler & Adelman; Morgan, Lewis & Bockius; and Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker.
